Students see improvements in their tone, range, breath management, power, and ability to use a wide variety of color, dynamics and nuance for vocal expression

What to Expect

In the first part of the singing lesson, we focus on warming up the voice and learning technique. We explore and assess the five main components of vocal technique. In the second part of the lesson, we apply the technique to your songs. These components can be taught in both Classical (Bel Canto) technique and Belt/Pop technique.

  • Alignment

  • Breath coordination and control

  • Tone Production — sing with healthy and efficient use of the vocal cords

  • Resonance — project your sound with ease

  • Ring — be heard over an orchestra

Imagine your singing voice
as a powerful and authentic expression
of who you really are

Approach

We learn best in a positive, supportive atmosphere of curiosity, experimentation and celebration. You will be guided in experiments that create:

  • Self knowledge

  • Technical proficiency

  • Powerful expression

  • Self-confidence

In lessons, we learn to observe specific actions in a sincerely interested and non-judgmental way. When our awareness has developed enough and we stop “trying to do it right”, we experience the magic of learning.

Influences

Teachers I have worked with either privately or in workshops include Berton Coffin, Barbara Doscher, Richard Miller, Jo Estill, and Lisa Popeil

My approach is based on Timothy Gallway's Inner Game writings, Wesley Balk's teachings and Alexander's principles.
